This course is designed for those who wish to learn how to create beautiful, custom scatter cushions that can add a touch of personality and comfort to any space. Whether you’re a beginner or have some sewing experience, our course will guide you through the process with expert instruction and hands-on practice.

What You Will Learn
Introduction to Scatter Cushions: Understanding different types of scatter cushions.
Overview of materials and tools needed.
Selecting Fabric: Choosing the right fabric for your project. Tips on coordinating colours and patterns.
Measuring and Cutting Fabric: How to measure fabric accurately. Cutting techniques for different fabric types
Sewing Techniques: Using a sewing machine. Creating seams and edges. Adding zippers, buttons, and other closures.
Filling and Finishing: Selecting and inserting cushion fillings. Techniques for finishing edges and adding decorative touches.
Customizing Your Cushions: Adding trims, piping, and other embellishments. Creative design ideas and inspiration.
Course Materials Provided
Fabric samples for practice.
Zippers.
Note: Students are encouraged to bring their own fabric for their final project if they have a specific design in mind.
What to Bring
Fabric:
1 meter of your chosen fabric.
Second choice of fabric if making contrasting piping.
Your own sewing machine (optional), with a zipper or piping foot.
A notebook and pen for taking notes.
Matching Thread:
Bring sewing thread that matches your chosen fabric for a professional finish.
Sewing Machine:
Ensure it’s in good working order.
Note: Let us know in advance if you don’t have one. You can drive up to the door, and we’ll help carry your machine.
Personal Sewing Kit:
Sharp fabric scissors.
Pins.
Marking pencil.
Tip: Label your items to avoid mix-ups in the workroom.
Lunch:
Bring your own lunch.
Facilities: There’s a microwave, sink, and kettle in the kitchen area.
Option: The village shop is a three-minute drive away for those who need to buy lunch.
Tip: Many students prefer a short lunch break to continue working on their projects.

Morning / Session 1:
10:00 AM - 10:30 AM: Welcome and introduction
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM: Overview of scatter cushions and materials
11:30 AM - 12:30 AM: Fabric selection and cutting techniques
Lunch Break:
12:30 PM - 1:00 PM: Tea, coffee, water will be available, but bring your own lunch.
Afternoon / Session 2:
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM: Hands-on sewing practice
2:00 PM - 2:30 PM: Adding zippers and closures
2:30 PM - 3:00 PM: Filling and finishing techniques
3:00 PM - 3:30 PM: Customization and decoration
3:30 PM - 4:00 PM: Review, Q&A, and Finishing Touches

50% Refund: If you cancel between 7 and 14 days before the course date, you will receive a 50% refund.
